Finding Balance

Born in Tokyo, our founder Kengo faced the challenges of modern life - balancing career, side hustles, and family. Amidst rising stress and endless responsibilities, he sought a better way. When health issues made coffee problematic, Kengo explored gentler alternatives. His search led him to matcha, a discovery that not only eased his digestive concerns but transformed his daily routine, becoming a source of vitality.

The Power of Sado: Active Zen

Kengo's matcha journey introduced him to Sado, the Japanese tea ceremony. Far more than just tea preparation, Sado is a form of active Zen meditation. Each deliberate movement in preparing matcha becomes a practice in mindfulness, allowing one to enter a meditative state through action. This, combined with matcha's natural energy-boosting properties, creates a unique pathway to find balance and vitality from within.

Sharing the Tradition

Inspired by Sado's transformative impact, we created Emptea. Our mission is to share this powerful practice through our matcha zen kit: kuro. This carefully curated set embodies the essence of Sado, allowing you to experience active Zen and matcha's benefits at home We see this as the "shu" stage of "shu ha ri" (守破離) - the first step in mastering a traditional art.
